Frazer's House Foundation is looking to raise enough money to buy or build a new house in memory of our son Frazer McDermott, which is just within a short walking distance from the Queens Medical Centre Hospital in Nottingham. The aim is to help parents with accommodation costs and a place to rest whilst their children are undergoing probably the most traumatic times of their lives and to enable their parent to be close to their children in time of critical hospital care.
Walk for Frazer, Saturday 24th August 2013 at 10am. This years walk is a sponsored scenic 8.5 mile walk around Carsington Water Resevoir. Meeting at the main entrance (Visitors Centre) & car park.
The Mencap Inspire Me programme is a project for 14-25 year olds with a learning disability.. It is funded by the Co-operative group. As part of the project we do Community Impact Projects where the idea is to take a group of young people and something positive in their local area. We have links with the Derby City Youth Services Youth Club which meets on a Friday night at Wilson Street in Derby, and they were keen to work with us to do a sponsored walk to raise money for a local charity. We supported them to select a local charity to raise money for, and after a vote they decided to choose Frazer's House. The walk took place along the Derby Canal Path and was about 6 miles in length. 7 young people from the group took part to raise the total of £139.95. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day which ended with drinks and nibbles at Derby YMCA on London Rd.
